These four photos were commissioned by my sister, Leah. She asked for a set of photos of New York, but since there are about a million different flavors of New York, I decided to narrow it down by photographing spots that have some significance for my family.
I started with Carnegie Hall on 57th Street, which is where we took took music lessons growing up. Next up is a path in Central Park that runs in front of the Delacorte Theater, where we spent dozens of summers waiting in line for tickets to Shakespeare in the Park. Then I made my way over to Lincoln Center, easily my sister’s favorite spot in the city (she’s a total opera nut). Lastly, the Queensboro Bridge, where we sat in countless hours of traffic driving back and forth to those aforementioned music lessons.
